Happy October DNS Families! It's such a beautiful time of year, and we always enjoy getting outside with students in the fall. We have lots of fun things going on including upcoming field trips to places like Gray Animal Park, and the LOCAL Garden.
We are also continuing our focus on our three school rules - Be Safe, Be Kind, and Be Responsible. We kicked off a recognition program where staff are recognizing students for being "kind" - if they are caught being kind, they get a ticket from staff for their classroom, and when classrooms collect ten tickets they get to put a bee in our hive. When our hive is full of bees, we will have a school-wide celebration!
And speaking of celebrations, at Dike-Newell School, our motto is to be a community where everyone matters. In order to ensure that all students feel included and are members of our community, we do not dress up for Halloween or wear costumes to school as it can be very disruptive to the learning environment, and many families choose not to celebrate Halloween. Please feel free to dress your child in orange and black for Halloween if you would like, but no costumes - thank you in advance!
