Many students may not have been able to apply to travel to Japan this summer due to the cost and/or the two week travel commitment plus orientation sessions. However, they can bring Japan home by hosting one of the twelve 14-15 year old students or one of the three adults who will be traveling from Tsugaru to Bath this summer. It requires an 8 night commitment August 11-19, the ability to drive your guest to/from activities on weekdays, keep them occupied on the weekend (show them the sights and keep them fed), provide breakfast and lunch most weekdays, and provide a private space and their own bed at night.
Staff are more than welcome to apply to host as well! While most host families reside in the greater Bath area we have had host families from as far away as Damariscotta, Richmond, and Topsham.
The hosting process requires completing a 3 page application, agreeing to a background check, and attending a 1.5 hour orientation session one evening in mid-July (tentatively Thurs., 7/13 from 6:30-8pm at the Highland Green Community Center, Topsham).
I have attached the hosting flyer AND the hosting application in this email. Please consider sharing it with your students or anyone else you can think of. Thank you so much! Arigato gozaimus!!!
